Description

This rarely imaged object, also known as G238.4-01.8, is a very faint planetary nebula located in the constellation of Puppis at a declination of -23 degrees. This nebula spans 2 arc-minutes in our apparent view. Its distance from us is not known. This object is named after its discoverers, Florian Kerber and Ronald Weinberger. In one of the most confusing abbreviations ever for a sky object, this one is referred to both as KeWe 3 and KW 8.

The Ha signal for this object is fairly strong, while the OIII signal is basically non-existent. The central star of this PN is thought to be the medium brightness star just below the center of the nebula. The ISM is interacting with and deforming the nebula.
